EV chargers for hotels and AirBnbs

On a recent trip from Hobart up to Launceston, we needed to find accommodation with charging for our electric vehicle (EV), as we wanted to charge our car overnight.

Charging an EV overnight while you sleep is a great option when you’re travelling, as it means you don’t need to rely solely on the fast chargers on highways - they can be busy and sometimes out of action.

Unfortunately accommodation available with EV charging options was scarce and really limited where could stay.

We’ve also spoken to friends who work for government and businesses transitioning their fleets to electric, who are facing similar problems when travelling around Tassie for work.

Installing EV charging options will become increasingly important for accommodation providers to stay ahead, and offer a premium hospitality experience for tourists and business customers.

Why EV chargers in tourist and holiday accommodation?

With more travellers on the road in electric vehicles, the demand for properties equipped with EV charging stations is on the rise.

In Tassie alone, there is over 5,000 electric vehicles on our roads. This doesn’t include the numerous electric vehicles travelling here on the Spirit of Tasmania to travel around of Tassie.

This isn’t just a trend… it’s the future, and there’s no time like the present to get plugged in.

Here’s what an EV charger brings to your Airbnb:

Supporting environmentally conscious customers

  • Guests love options that align with their values.

  • By offering EV charging, you’re opening your doors to a broader range of travellers eager to reduce their carbon footprint.

Boost your visibility and get more customers

  • Stand out with a feature that’s not just a value add but a future-proof investment. As more travellers drive electric, you’re ready to meet the demand head on.

  • You can list your EV charger on the plugshare app, used by many EV drivers searching for EV charging options.

Convenience with control

  • We can easily install software for you to ensure that customers pay for their own power, putting the control in your hands. You can also decide who gets access and when.
