Our impact.
Clean energy education projects
Our profits fund clean energy education projects in schools and communities.
At This is Electric, our mission extends beyond just providing excellent, high-quality electrical services to our local community in nipaluna / Hobart.
We are passionate about a rapid, fair and accessible transition to clean energy.
And we believe that our business can play a role in achieving this.
We trade as a social enterprise, and our vision is that the energy transition is not only rapid, but equitable, fair and accessible to everyone.
Including young people.
Schools and student-led projects
We work with schools and education providers on student-led electrification and clean energy projects and education programs.
We involve young people at a practical level in projects (where possible and safe) and prepare them for the future ahead.
We support young people to explore ideas with professional guidance, technical support and electrical expertise.
We are experienced mentors for the Tasmanian Youth Climate Leaders Program.
We believe that women and girls have an important role to play in the clean energy transition. We want all of our voices to be heard. Our education programs and projects are inclusive, interesting and designed for everyone.

Verified by People and Planet First
We are a verified People and Planet First Social Enterprise.
We’re excited to join a growing network of organisations around the world doing business differently and putting people and our planet first.
Verification means we have met the below requirements:
Purpose: we exist to solve a social and environmental problem.
Operations: we prioritise purpose, people and planet over profit in operational decisions.
Revenue: we have a self-sustaining revenue model.
Use of Surplus: we invest our surplus towards our purpose.
Structure: we have legal structures and financing that protect and lock-in our purpose for the long term.
Every electrical job we do brings us one step closer to our vision for every Tasmanian to have access to safe, clean and affordable energy.

Wybalenna community project
Our recent volunteering effort to refurbish and upgrade electrical wiring and connections at the Wybalenna homestead on Flinders Island is a project we feel very passionate about.
The buildings at Wybalenna have been neglected, and a recent grant from the Tasmanian Community Fund have enabled work to commence to upgrade the buildings so that they can be used by the Tasmanian Aboriginal community.
Wybalenna will not only be a place for community connections, but provide a space for truth-telling, allowing the community to connect, use the land and share their stories.
