Tasmanian grants for accommodation EV charging
If you own or manage accommodation in Tasmania, now is a great time to consider installing EV charging for your guests.
The Tasmanian Government's Electric Vehicle Destination Charging Grant Program is designed to help eligible tourism businesses install destination EV chargers for overnight visitors.
The program aims to make EV travel around Tasmania easier while supporting accommodation providers to meet the growing demand for EV charging.
What is destination charging?
Destination charging allows guests to conveniently charge their electric vehicle while they stay at your property.
Unlike public fast chargers, destination chargers are designed for longer stays, making them ideal for:
Hotels
Motels
Airbnbs
Holiday parks
Eco lodges
Farm stays
Apartments offering overnight accommodation
For many guests, being able to charge overnight can be an important factor when choosing where to stay.
What funding is available?
Eligible accommodation providers may be able to receive up to $2,500 per charger, with funding available for up to four chargers per business under Round 1 of the program.
The grant application process is not too complex - you just need to be providing accommodation, have an ABN and submit a quote for installation of EV chargers from a licensed and insured electrician.
Applications are currently open and close on 31 August 2026, unless funding is exhausted earlier.
How we can help
Installing an EV charger involves more than simply choosing a charger.
We can help you:
Assess the best charging solution for your property and assess electrical capacity
Recommend the right charger for your guests and budget, including affordable options for payment systems
Provide information to support your grant application
Professionally install and commission your charger
Provide training and support to staff, signage and information to ensure a seamless experience for your guests
As an independent installer, we always recommend the charger that's best suited to your accommodation rather than promoting a single manufacturer.
